Vilostudios is expanding its production pipeline.

As a global anime and manga production company, we focus on building a seamless creative workflow where every stage, from concept to final frame, is aligned with intent and execution. Our productions are designed to be cohesive, efficient, and visually striking from the ground up.

We are currently looking for talented Layout (LO) Artists to join our growing network of creatives.

This role is where scenes truly begin to take shape. Before animation brings movement, layout defines everything, space, camera, tension, and clarity. Your work becomes the structural blueprint that every department relies on.

Role Overview

As a Layout (LO) Artist, you are responsible for translating storyboards into precise, production-ready layouts. You define composition, perspective, and camera direction, ensuring every cut is clear, cinematic, and aligned with the director’s vision.

Responsibilities

  • Translate storyboards into detailed layouts with accurate composition and perspective
  • Establish camera positioning, lens dynamics, and spatial relationships within each cut
  • Create clean, readable drafts that serve as a strong foundation for animation and background teams
  • Ensure layouts align with the director’s vision and storytelling intent
  • Maintain clarity and consistency across sequences
  • Prepare layouts that integrate seamlessly into a fully digital production pipeline
  • Adapt work based on feedback while maintaining quality and precision

Compensation & Workflow

  • Rate: $30 – $100 per cut (based on experience and portfolio strength)
  • Environment: 100% Remote, global team
  • Pipeline: Fully digital, paperless workflow

  • Strong understanding of composition, perspective, and cinematic framing
  • Knowledge of camera lenses and 3D spatial construction
  • Clean, precise draftsmanship suitable for production use
  • Proficiency in tools such as CLIP STUDIO PAINT or equivalent
  • Proven experience in animation production or a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fully remote environment
  • Familiarity with Japanese production terminology (Genga, Douga) is a plus
