We’re expanding our freelancer database and are seeking experienced In-Between Checkers (動画検査 / Douga Kensa) to ensure the accuracy and consistency of our animation cuts.
Responsibilities
- Review in-between animation (動画) for consistency, accuracy, and quality before finishing.
- Check line quality, motion flow, and character proportions according to key animation (原画) and animation director (作画監督) corrections.
- Identify and correct errors in timing, missing details, or frame continuity.
- Communicate with Key Animators, Douga artists, and Animation Directors to ensure smooth production flow.
- Deliver checked cuts ready for finishing (仕上げ / Shiage) and compositing.
Requirements
Prior experience as a Douga Kensa (動画検査) or senior in-between animator in anime production. Strong understanding of drawing fundamentals and animation timing. Familiarity with Clip Studio Paint (CSP) or other 2D digital animation software. Attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in quality control. Understanding of the Japanese anime production pipeline and timing sheets (タイムシート). English or Japanese proficiency (either acceptable). Ability to work independently and meet deadlines within a remote workflow.
